R&R
Nick Mezas
Finalist Young Designer
My goal was to design a superyacht that would exceed the client’s wishes and demands. I chose a modern motor yacht with interior and exterior deck spaces that provide both a visual and a physical connection with the yacht’s natural surroundings with “rest and recreation” in mind. Hence the design’s name: R&R. After several profile and 3D sketches I selected the design I felt was best suited for the competition.
The general arrangement was then set up and worked out. A great deal of time was put into the layout of the interior so it would be practical, functional and spacious, for both guests and crew – at the same time minimizing the crew’s necessity to pass through guest areas.
The Lounge Deck features an outside terrace with a solar panel roof and provides an unmatched view and experience for guests whether cruising or in port. Special features on the owner’s deck are sliding walls that, when opened, connect the children’s rooms. Furthermore, the owner and family enjoy a private and intimate living room. The main deck features three double cabins for guests and includes a cinema. A special feature in the tender garage situated forward is a three-person submarine.
